'During the week we expressed our thoughts about the local countryside environment
by using Art. In our art week we had to capture the intensity of the essence
of our emotions of the countryside. We went out into the countryside to appreciate
the open space, beauty, wildlife, variety and foliage of the landscape. We expressed
these ideas by using new techniques, which were drawing, collograph, relief
printing, dry point, mono printing, and papermaking.'
'I really enjoyed everything we have done this week. I have learnt a lot about
different types of printing. The trip was good because I got to see and draw
parts of Cottenham I hadn't seen before.'
'We did charcoal drawings that showed our feelings about the landscapes we
had seen. I don't like the landscape here very much, because it is too man-made,
however I prefer it to the city and there are good places to draw.'
'I'm still not that keen on the landscape of Cottenham but my views are very
different. I see a lot of things that I wouldn't normally notice, like the structure
of a leaf or the grain of the wood on a fence.'
'I have learned a lot in this past week about different techniques and about
what I am personally capable of.'
